PORTLAND The Oregon Cascades saw snow pile up over the weekend, and the white stuff was still falling Monday morning over the mountain passes, making conditions difficult for travelers on Highway 26 over Government Camp.
Timberline Lodge saw 1 to 3 inches of snowfall on Sunday, bringing the base to 27 inches. Another 6 to 9 inches was forecast for Monday night.
Mt. Hood Meadows had a 17-inch base, while Government Camp at 5 inches total. In bend, Mt. Bachelor had a 15-inch base.
It will likely be weeks before the runs open at most Mt. Hood ski areas, but with snow building up, people were already lining up for season passes.

In the Portland Metro area, Monday's rain was forecast to taper into showers during the day Tuesday, according to KGW Meteorologist Nick Allard.
Temperatures were expected to warm into the lower 50s Tuesday with a dry day on Wednesday before the rain returns on Thursday.
