PORTLAND It was a sellout crowd of more than 600 people for the first ever Catio Tour, showcasing 12 cat patios around Portland Sunday.

The event was a team up between the Audubon Society and the Feral Cat Coalition of Oregon in an effort to inspire cat owners to build or buy cat enclosures to protect the cats, reduce overpopulation and protect wildlife from cat predation.

People toured the catios from noon to 4 p.m. and saw a host of enclosure that ranged from fancy to frugal. KGW stopped by a home in Southwest Portland that featured a custom built gazebo-style catio.
