BEND, Ore. -- Police in Bend, Ore., say they evacuated the Deschutes Public Library and temporarily blocked traffic nearby after a report of an item that looked like a hand grenade. Turns out it was a bicycle lock, fashioned to look like a grenade.

Sgt. Dan Ritchie says a woman found the item Thursday morning in bushes near the library, put it in a garbage can and called police.

KTVZ-TV reports that Ritchie says the building was evacuated as a precaution.

An explosives expert was called and determined the object was not dangerous.
