PORTLAND -- On a picturesque evening Glenwood Park is a perfect place for a kid to unwind. But Monday evening was anything but perfect if you ask Gavin Campbell.

The 11-year-old was with a group of friends when he was approached by an older boy brandishing a gun.

He was walking up and he put the gun in my face, this far away, and he said, 'Give me the board,' or he's going to shoot me, said Gavin. I didn't think it was a real gun, because you could see it wasn't.

Gavin did not wait to find out if might be mistaken. He handed over his skateboard. His friend, Kyle, called for help.

I told him (Gavin's dad) there was a kid with a BBgun and he was threatening to shoot Gavin if he didn't give him the skateboard, said Kyle Neal.

Gavin's dad rushed over to the park. He got his son's skateboard back, confiscated the gun, and held the boy until police arrived.

It makes me feel really scared, said Matthew Campbell. They can't come to the park and enjoy themselves without some kind of worry and stuff happening.

Responding officers learned that the boy had also approached an 18-year-old woman and threatened to shoot her. And he was accused of walking up to a 12-year-old girl and demanding her iPhone.

The 13-year-old suspect was lodged in the county juvenile detention center. He faces a second-degree robbery charge, but additional charges were pending.
