VANCOUVER Kaitlin Miller, a 17-year-old girl from Vancouver, was killed in a crash Monday evening at Northeast 199th Street and 29th Avenue, according to the Clark County Sheriff's Office.

Miller was a passenger in a 1999 Mercury Cougar driven by Grace Chandler, 17, said Sgt. Dave Nelson. The initial investigation has determined that Chandler ran a stop sign, he said.

The Cougar struck a 2006 Volvo XC90 driven by Geralyn Jaskey, 53, of Brush Prairie, Wash., Nelson said.

Jaskey and passengers Julia Ballo, 14, and Hanna Ballo, 16, were injured and taken along with Chandler to the hospital following the 7 p.m. accident. One of those hurt suffered serious injuries.

Both cars were heavily damaged. Alcohol and speeding were not factors in the collision, Nelson said.

(KGW initially incorrectly reported the name of the driver who ran the stop sign.)
