COQUILLE, Ore. -- A Bandon midwife who had a baby die under her watch in 2011 pleaded guilty Thursday to recklessly endangering another person.

The World reports Marcene Rebeck received a five-year deferred sentence as part of a plea agreement. The Coos County district attorney dropped manslaughter and negligent homicide charges.

Rebeck has been an unlicensed midwife for 31 years. She is required to get a license and her lawyer says she'll return to work.
