ESTACADA, Ore. An off-duty sheriff s deputy helped foil a burglary in Estacada Wednesday.

At around 11:20 a.m., off-duty deputy Daniel Moyer called dispatchers after he saw a suspicious person leaving the Safari Club on Southeast 4th Avenue with a large heavy brown suitcase and backpack before leaving on a bicycle, said Sgt. Robert Wurpes with the Clackamas County Sheriff s Office.

The Club s owners are vacating the building but there were still valuable items inside, Wurpes said.

The deputy watched Jonathan Hogenson, 32, of Estacada head to his mother s house on his bike with the loot.

Hogenson was arrested and is also a person of interest in several other burglary investigations in the area. He was booked in the Clackamas County Jail on burglary charges.
