LINCOLN CITY, Ore. -- A man died after his car went into the Siletz River early Tuesday afternoon on Logsdon Road, according to the Lincoln County sheriff's office.

Elmer Kibler, 83, of Logsdon, was eastbound near milepost 2 when he failed to make a curve. His Toyota Echo left the road and careened down a 50-foot bank into the river, landing upside down and partially submerged.

Kibler was found dead in the vehicle, police said. The accident remains under investigation.
