EUGENE -- Eugene Police arrested a man accused of causing a disturbance on an Amtrak train and lighting a fire in the restroom of a sleeper car.
A police spokesman said officers were sent to the downtown train station Friday afternoon to help Amtrak with an unruly passenger arriving on a northbound train.
Before officers arrived, Nathan Tillis of Sacramento, Calif., barricaded himself in the restroom and set the fire.
The corridor outside the restroom filled with smoke, but the authorities were able pry open the door, extinguish the fire and arrest Tillis.
The 30-year-old Tillis has been charged with reckless endangering, criminal mischief, interfering with police, interfering with public transportation and resisting arrest.
