PORTLAND Officers arrested a man who crashed his car while speeding away from police early Sunday morning.
Just after 12 a.m., 26-year-old Michael Zook sped away from police southbound on Southeast 111th Avenue near Southeast Foster Road, said Sgt. Pete Simpson with Portland police.
Police tried to spin out Zook s 1995 Toyota Tercel but he regained control and sped away down Southeast Foster Road, Simpson said.
Zook then turned off his lights and made a right turn at Southeast Vradenburg Road while heading down Southeast 162nd Avenue and crashed his car on its side, Simpson said.
Zook was taken to the hospital with minor injuries.
A 25-year-old passenger was treated for minor injuries at the scene and released.
Zook was then taken to jail and charged with attempting to elude police, possession of methamphetamine, reckless driving and reckless endangerment.
Zook also had two outstanding warrants for failure to register as a sex offender and burglary. He will be arraigned Monday.
