GASTON, Ore. -- An SUV plunged 100 feet down an embankment during Monday's storm, but everyone inside the car survived.

The vehicle stopped after getting lodged against a large tree.

Crews with the Gaston Rural Fire District were called to the scene at around 3:30 p.m. and found one of the people from the car in the roadway after presumably climbing back up the embankment following the crash.

Fire crews used ropes to rescue the other victim, despite slick mud &a steep ledge.

Both victims were taken to the hospital with injuries that were not life-threatening.

It took tow crews more than an hour to pull the vehicle back up the embankment.
