SISTERS, Ore. -- Fire crews finally have the upper hand on the huge wildfire burning near Sisters.

The Pole Creek Wildfire is now 65% contained, according to fire officials.

Weekend rain helped slow the fire’s growth as crews worked to dig fire lines around the 26,000 acre blaze. However, the fire did still manage to grow by about 300 acres Saturday and Sunday, fueled by strong winds.

More than 1,000 firefighters have been helping to battle the Pole Creek Fire.
