Local Olympian Nick Symmonds took time out from training to appear on CNBC early Monday morning.

He was live from London on the show Worldwide Exchange to talk about the business of track and field.

Symmonds made waves awhile back when he began putting temporary sponsor tattoos on his arm-- something that is against international track and field rules during the Olympics.

We train for four years for these events. And we come here. And all these sponsors help us throughout the years...and when we get to the Olympics where we can give them a return on their investment, they're suddenly not welcome anymore. And I just think it s terrible, Symmonds said.

This is Symmonds second Olympics. He is currently ranked sixth in the world in the 800 meters. He is hoping for his first gold medal in London.
