PORTLAND The Portland Winterhawks rallied in the third period, but were unable to beat the Kootenay Ice in Game 2 of the Western Hockey League Finals Saturday night.

The Winterhawks, down 6-2 going into the third period shot three goals to cut the Kootenay lead to 6-5, but the Ice scored one more with 10 seconds left in the game.

The Ice came away with a 7-5 win in front of a sellout crowd of 10,947 at the Rose Garden. The series is even at 1-1.

The Finals move to Kootenay s home turf in Cranbrook, British Columbia, where Game 3 was scheduled for Tuesday and Game 4 was scheduled for Wednesday.

Game 5 was scheduled for Friday at 7:30 p.m. at the Rose Garden.
