EUGENE, Ore. -- Four Ethiopian track athletes who vanished after Saturday's World Junior Championships in Eugene have been found safe, authorities said.

The three women and a 17-year-old man were reported missing last weekend, as first reported by The Eugene Register-Guard.

Amanuel Abebe Atibeha, 17; Dureti Edao, 18; and Meaza Kebede, 18, were safe, unharmed, and staying with acquaintances in Beaverton Monday, according to spokeswoman Kelly McIver of the University of Oregon Police Department.

Zeyituna Mohammed, 18, was found Tuesday in Federal Way, staying with a family that came from her village in Ethiopia, said Cathy Schrock of the Federal Way Police Department.

University spokeswoman Julie Brown said that despite speculation, it has not been confirmed whether the missing athletes were considering seeking asylum.
