PORTLAND Charges against NBA star Terrence Jones were dropped after he was accused last July of stomping on a sleeping homeless man in Portland.

Jones, a Jefferson High School graduate and current NBA forward with the Houston Rockets, was arrested in connection with the incident on Wednesday, July 31.

A patrolling officer said at the time he saw a group of people, including Jones, leaving the Tube nightclub just after 2 a.m. The officer said 21-year-old Jones walked by a doorway where two homeless men were sleeping, yelled wake up, and then stomped on the leg of one of the men.

The victim had a minor leg injury and refused medical attention.

Jones pleaded not guilty to harassment charges.

The charges were dismissed by Judge Henry Kantor on April 18. According to The Oregonian, in a civil compromise, Jones will have to pay $10,000 to a charity organization that benefits the homeless.
