PORTLAND Dave Dahl, the face of the ever-popular Dave s Killer Bread, was taken back to jail Friday and formally indicted on 15 charges including assault, unlawful use of a weapon and hit-and-run.

He later posted the $52,000 required so he could await his next court date at home.

On Friday, Dahl was hit with a slew of more serious charges as he stood beside his attorney Stephen Houze. He was taken away in handcuffs and his bail was set at $520,000.

Dahl faces one count each of felony first and second-degree attempted assault, two counts each of felony second and third-degree assault, three counts of felony unlawful use of a weapon, one charge of attempting to elude, two hit-and-run charges, two resisting arrest charges and one fourth-degree assault charge.

The charges stem from a Nov. 14 alleged rampage through Southwest Portland where Dahl was arrested for smashing his Cadillac Escalade into three deputies' cruisers before he was pinned in, shocked with a Taser and taken to hospital.

Dahl was initially booked in the Washington County Jail and later charged with attempted second-degree assault.

Dahl s life leading up to his alleged November breakdown was never easy. His battles with mental illness, run-ins with the law, and 15-year stint in prison made for a compelling narrative that helped to nationally launch the business he co-founded.
