SALEM, Ore. More than 30 firefighters rushed to put out a fire in Salem garage Friday evening.

Around 8 p.m., the 1,500-square-foot garage went up in flames and threatened the unattached home 10 feet away at 4932 Sunnyview Road Northeast, said Patrick Wineman with the Marion County Fire District.

The fire grew bigger, spreading to the attic full of belongings and lumber. Firefighters spent two hours controlling the blaze, using firefighting foam and cutting back 20-foot-tall arborvitae trees near the fire.

The residents in the home safely got out without injury.
