EUGENE, Ore. (AP) -- Police responding to a noise complaint obtained a search warrant and forced their way into a Eugene home after people at a party refused to let officers inside.

Police said they found more than 40 people inside the home Friday night, some of them hiding in closets or other locations.

Two 21-year-old residents of the home were arrested and lodged in jail on charges that include permitting a minor to consume alcohol. Police say both are students at the University of Oregon. Thirteen people were cited for minor in possession of alcohol and other offenses.

Authorities say about 30 to 40 people fled out the back door once officers arrived.

Police seized stereo equipment and a laptop, saying they're evidence of the prohibited noise.
