PORTLAND -- An 8-inch water main dating back to 1927 has burst on Southwest Vista between Elm and Spring, according to Tim Hall of the Portland Water Bureau.

Crews were trying to keep some water pressure up for the neighborhood early Thursday, he said, but about 30 homes were expected to still be impacted. The break shut down Ainsworth Elementary School.

Just after noon water was restored for everyone.

The burst pipe was reported about midnight. This break is just down the street from a similar one before Thanksgiving.
