MADRAS, Ore. -- An Oregon City man who was killed when his SUV crashed off Highway 26 south of Madras early Sunday was not found for several hours.

Oregon State Police say the overturned vehicle was hidden by brush. Investigators believe the driver lost control, struck a culvert and went airborne, landing 35 yards off the highway, according to Sgt. Gregg Hastings with Oregon State Police.

Scott Young, 50, was ejected from his Jeep Wrangler as it rolled and then became trapped under it, Hastings said. He was not wearing a seat belt.

A nearby resident noticed the overturned vehicle several hours after the crash and called police. The vehicle was not easily visible from the highway.

The investigation was continuing.
