SALEM, Ore. -- An Oregon legislative committee has begun advancing a series of bills tackling changes to pensions, taxes and agricultural regulations.

The action late Tuesday came nearly 10 hours later than planned.

Gov. John Kitzhaber and legislative leaders spent the day trying to nail down details and line up votes.

The progress set the stage for votes in the full House and Senate on Wednesday.

Kitzhaber and legislative leaders agreed to a broad framework on Sept. 18 and the governor called lawmakers into session starting Monday. But disagreements over key details remained sticking points through most of Tuesday.
