RIDGEFIELD, Wash. - The teen killed in a single-vehicle crash in Ridgefield Wednesday was identified Thursday as 17-year-old Tanner Kane Trosko of Ridgefield, police said.

The crash happened at Northwest 291st Street and Main Avenue around 7:45 p.m. Wednesday, according to Sgt. Fred Nieman of the Clark County Sheriff's Office.

Trosko died at the scene and the driver, 17-year-old Luca Cory Wells of Ridgefield, was taken to a nearby hospital.

Antonio Pickett was good friends with Trosko. On Thursday, he said he was devastated that Trosko called him just an hour before the crash, wanting to hang out.

"All summer he had been calling me and asking me, 'hey man, take this class at Clark with me' or 'hey man, let's go swimming,' or 'hey man what's going on, let's grab a coffee' and all summer I turned him down," Pickett said. "Not once did I go to see him this summer and finally the last time he asked me was probably the wrong day to turn him down, so it's kinda tough."

Counselors were present when classes started Thursday morning at Ridgefield High School. They emphasized maintaining a structured and routine day for the students, said superintendent Art Edgerly.
