WOLF CREEK, Ore. -- Oregon State Police say a highway flagger was hit and killed Wednesday afternoon by a commercial truck on Interstate 5 in southern Oregon.
Lt. Gregg Hastings says 60-year-old Kathleen Roberta Wilson of Trail, Ore., was employed by a private company contracting with the Oregon Transportation Department on a paving project.
She had parked a truck pulling a trailer carrying a lighted arrow sign on the side of the highway. She was outside the truck picking up a portable sign when the northbound commercial truck hit the parked vehicle.
The crash happened near Wolf Creek. Sgt. Jeff Proulx says the truck driver didn't know a person had died in the collision. The driver stopped his damaged truck about a half mile away.
