BAKER CITY, Ore. (AP) -- It was a really wet Wednesday in Baker City.

The Baker City Herald reports that almost 1.6 inches of rain fell at the local airport, making it the wettest day since Aug. 31, 1984, and fifth-wettest day on record.

Though the rain was a welcome sight for the drought-plagued region, it caused water damage at the 10-story Baker Tower.

Gina Perkins, who works on the fifth floor, says the cause appeared to be a clogged drain on the roof.
