SAN ANTONIO, Texas -- An off-duty deputy was shot in the shoulder Wednesday evening while touring a home for sale in San Antonio, police said.
The Bexar County Sheriff's Office deputy was in regular clothes and was with his wife, a real-estate agent, who was showing a home to a client, said sheriff's office spokesman Paul Berry.
The group knocked on the door, but when no one answered, the deputy's wife opened the door and let everyone in.
The homeowner was actually home and taking a shower. She grabbed her gun after the alarm was triggered when the group walked inside.
The homeowner fired the gun once, shooting the deputy in the shoulder.
He was taken to a nearby hospital and listed as stable.
