KELSO, Wash. Police sent out a warning to parents in the Kelso School District that someone was trying to contact young students on Facebook.

The unidentified suspect was reportedly contacting the students by posing as famous teen celebrities and requesting that they begin private instant message sessions.

Police said that no students have been in contact with the person outside of social media.

District officials and police want to remind parents that although the Internet provides many great opportunities for children, it can also be a haven for predators and other people with bad intentions to make contact with children.

Officials urge parents to talk with their children about Internet safety and to monitor their child s Internet use.
