AMITY, Ore. -- People living and working in the city of Amity no longer need to boil their water as a precaution.

The boil order was lifted Thursday afternoon.

The day before, a waterline break created a loss of pressure, which forced crews to shut down the entire system.

Authorities were concerned that the water supply might contain bacteria.

The boil order was lifted after tests showed the water was safe to drink on Thursday.
