ALGIERS, Algeria -- An Oregon man is among three Americans killed in the hostage crisis in Algeria.
Representative Greg Walden said Gorden Lee Rowan, of Sumpter, in Baker County, was among the 38 hostages killed.
Islamic militants took the hostages at a gas plant deep in the Sahara Desert.
The crisis ended when Algerian Special Forces stormed the compound last week and a gunfight broke out. The Algerian army said it had to move in because there were fears the militants would blow up the entire installation.
