PORTLAND -- A man who had been charged with murder in a 2011 New Year's Day shooting in downtown Portland pleaded no contest Wednesday to a manslaughter charge.

He was sentenced to 11 years in prison.

A few hours into the new year, a shot fired by Kevin Moffett during a fight outside the Club 915 bar hit bouncer Ruben Mata.

I hope that one day you can find it in your heart to forgive me and to pray for me, Moffett said in court.

Moffett had a concealed weapons permit, and prosecutors said he did not have gang ties.
