SAUVIE ISLAND) --The pilot of a disabled plane that made an emergency landing at Savie Island has been identified as a local weatherman.
Dave Salesky, 52, was the pilot of the plan that made an emergency landing Sunday afternoon on the west end of Sauvie Island, according to Multnomah County sheriff's office spokeswoman Lt. Mary Lindstrand. Salesky was unhurt.
Lindstrand said Salesky asked that his name not be released Sunday so he could inform his family that he was OK.
Salesky was a weatherman at KGW-TV for many years before moving to KATU-TV last fall.
Lindstrand said Salesky was able to stay aloft long enough to find an open spot and bring the plane down in one piece in a wheat field.
