RIDGEFIELD, Wash. -- Deputies had to take cover when someone yelled at them and fired several gunshots Monday night, the Clark County Sheriff's Office reported.

Two deputies were called just before 11:00 p.m. to a welfare check in the 2600 block of Northeast 191st Circle, said Sgt. Duncan Hoss.

When they got into the area, they heard a male voice yelling in the distance to 'Get out of here,' Hoss said. They then heard what sounded like a total of 10 gunshots.

Deputies took cover and requested backup. A SWAT team was called in, along with air support from Portland police.

The suspect was not located. Hoss said the investigation was ongoing.
