BUSH PRAIRIE, Wash. - A 16-year-old boy was struck and killed while skateboarding Sunday night on a street at Brush Prairie in the Hockinson area.

The Clark County sheriff's office the boy was wearing dark clothing and there are no street lights in the area. The victim was identified Monday as Andreaus Matthews, of Orchards.

After the impact the vehicle, a Nissan Maxima, left the road and hit a tree.

The driver, Landon Stewart, 18, of Battle Ground, and passenger, Paige Bong, 19, of Kalama, were taken to Peace Health Hospital with injuries that were not life-threatening, police said.

Investigators said the driver was cooperating and alcohol or other impairment do not appear to be factors in this collision.

Preliminary investigation showed that a 16-year-old male was skateboarding down the travel section of NE 172nd Avenue and was struck by a northbound vehicle, said Sgt Tony Barnes with the Clark County Sheriff's Office. He said Matthews was killed by the impact.
