WILSONVILLE, Ore. -- Two teenage girls who were hit by a car on a Wilsonville sidewalk last week were released from the hospital Thursday.

Officers were called at about 2:30 p.m. on August 7 to the report of a vehicle striking two pedestrians near Southwest Wilsonville Road and Southwest Memorial Drive, said Sgt. Robert Wurpes of the Clackamas County Sheriff's Office.

A vehicle heading westbound on Wilsonville Road reportedly veered off the road, went across the sidewalk, and struck two 13-year-old females walking on the sidewalk, Wurpes said.

I heard and saw the hit, added witness Susan Ibarra. It was really loud.

One girl was flown by LifeFlight to OHSU and the other was taken there by ambulance. Thursday hospital officials said both girls had been discharged.

The driver, 19-year-old Tyler Joos of Wilsonville, stayed at the scene and cooperated with police.

He's (Joos) a really nice person overall, said friend Alyssa Strong. I'm pretty sure he didn't mean (to do it).

Investigators were still working to determine the cause of the crash.
