OREGON CITY, Ore. A new state road being built in Clackamas County is keeping jobs local while addressing traffic congestion in the OR 212/224 corridor.
The Sunrise Jobs and Transportation Act Project will build a two-lane highway that runs from Interstate 205 to Southeast 122nd Avenue.
Several state, county and city officials broke ground on the $118 million project Wednesday.

The primary goal of the project is to relieve congestion on Highway 224, which sees tens of thousands of drivers every day.
A new bicycle and pedestrian bridge will also be built over the I-205 southbound off ramp to Southeast 82nd Drive as part of the project.
Oregon transportation officials said the impact on drivers will be minimal during construction, which should wrap up by summer 2016.
