BEAVERTON, Ore. A Beaverton man was arrested for threatening his roommate with a gun and barricading himself in an apartment for hours.

Police received a report early Thursday morning that a man was threatening his roommate with an AR-15 assault rifle and a knife at 4495 SW 96th Ave., said Sgt. Jim Shumway of the Beaverton Police Department.

Officers at the scene found the suspect, 27-year-old Scott Norman Adams, had barricaded himself inside the apartment. He surrendered about 2-1/2 hours later, Shumway said.

Adams was charged with menacing and harassment.

Investigators said they received several differing accounts of what happened before the 911 call. They determined the gun was a paintball rifle.
