PORTLAND -- The City of Portland will be lowering its flags Wednesday to honor a newborn girl found dead last week at a Portland recycling plant.
The baby was found among the recycled items inside EFI Recycling, at 4325 N Commerce Street, on May 28. Her mother still has not come forward, Portland Commissioner Dan Saltzman said Tuesday.
We need the public s help with this investigation. Someone out there knows something. For the sake of this child, who never had a chance at life, please leave an anonymous tip, Saltzman said. The least we can do for this baby is to get some answers.
Since April 2009, Portland's flags have been lowered nine times in honor of children who died from abuse, neglect or violence. Wednesday will mark the tenth time.
Flags will be at half-staff at City Hall, the Portland Building, the World Trade Center, Pioneer Courthouse Square nd Jeld-Wen Field.
Crime Stoppers offered a $1,000 reward for information leading to an arrest in the case.
