BEAVERTON, Ore. -- As the days get shorter, it becomes harder for drivers to see pedestrians, and Beaverton police are sending out a warning after a car critically injured a woman Wednesday night.

Sharon Moran, 52, was walking on Millikan Way, near Murray Boulevard, when she was struck by a car just before 7 p.m., according to Mike Rowe of the Beaverton Police Department.

She was taken to a nearby hospital, where she was last reported to be in critical condition.

Police said Moran was wearing dark clothing, which made it difficult for the driver to see her.

Be aware of your surroundings, Rowe advised. Pay attention to the cars; just because you think they see you doesn't mean they do. Wear something reflective.

He recommended pedestrians wear reflective clothing and avoid using headphones or mobile devices while walking.
