PORTLAND -- Portland Trail Blazers forward LaMarcus Aldridge is out for the season, due to hip problems.

Aldridge will have arthroscopic surgery on his right hip to repair a labral tear, according to Acting General Manager Chad Buchanan.

LaMarcus' priority is that he's 100-percent healthy going into training camp this fall and we all feel this is the best course. He's had an All-Star year and his long-term health is the most important thing to consider, Buchanan said.

Aldridge had an MRI on the hip late last month, but the results were negative. He has blamed the soreness on the grind of the lockout-shortened season and physical play.

A first-time All-Star this season, Aldridge had led the Blazers with 21.7 points, 8.0 rebounds and 2.4 assists per game. Aldridge is questionable for Portland's home game against Golden State on Wednesday night.
