PORTLAND - Burglars have targeted bike and outdoor stores in a recent rash of break-ins in downtown Portland.

Since November 1, five stores in Northwest and Southwest Portland have been hit by the thieves who apparently removed glass windows to get inside, police said.

Four-thousand dollars in knives were also stolen, police said.

Two bicycles stolen from Performance Bicycles on SW Alder and Rack Attack on SW Morrison were recovered by police Tuesday at one of the Occupy Portland camps downtown.

No arrests were made.

On Tuesday, CentralPrecinct statistics showed overall crime up 18 percent from last year, with the greatest increases in disorderly condeuct and larceny.
