HILLSBORO, Ore. -- It's been nearly 11 months since 7-year-old Portland boy Kyron Horman disappeared from Skyline school.

Timeline: Search for Kyron Horman

Saturday, Kyron's father, Kaine Horman, and some family friends put together a big Easter picnic at Shute Park in Hillsboro.

We just wanted to thank everyone for their hard work and support over the past year, said Kaine Horman.

Kids wore Kyron T-shirts and buttons as they scrambled across the green grass with big smiles, picking up Easter eggs.

Every candy-filled egg had a sticker with the missing boy's face on it.

Many people have volunteered countless hours helping Kaine in the ongoing effort to find Kyron.

It's just overwhelming how many people are out there trying to help and I'll be forever grateful for all the people that do this, and I just don't know what to say. I don't have the words for it, said Horman

Search and rescue volunteers were set up to explain what they've been doing and how to become certified.

Kaine Horman hoped the event would not only reward volunteers and their families, but also help raise awareness about his missing son.
