SEATTLE Two people were hurt in an avalanche near Snoqualmie Pass on Wednesday morning.
The King County Sheriff's Office said a skier triggered the avalanche on the south face of Snoqualmie Mountain at about 9:30 a.m.
Three people in a party of five were caught up in the avalanche. Two had minor injuries after being carried some 400 vertical feet. The third was not hurt.
Search and rescue was called in because the people became isolated after the avalanche. Heavy snow was falling at the site of the avalanche atthe 5,500-foot level.
