GOVERNMENT CAMP, Ore. -- Search teams have found a cross country skier who was lost overnight on Mt. Hood.

John Michael Wright, 43, of S.E. Portland was reported safe after being reached by searchers shortly before 6 a.m.

Clackamas Co SARS Coordinator Russ Gubele says that rescuers were able to locatehim through his cell phone after the man called 9-1-1 himself last night.

Wright was described as an experienced skier who knew how to build a snow cave but he was not equipped to spend the night.

Wright became lost near the river downstream from Skibowl East.

Four snowboarders were also reported missingat Skibowl just after 6:30 p.m.They contacted 9-1-1 around 9:30 to report they were trying to follow their tracks back. They managed to make it back to the lodgelot by midnight.
