PORTLAND -- The two Powell's Books concourse stores at Portland International Airport will close permanently when their leases expire in June, CEO Miriam Sontz announced Wednesday.
The Powell's store at PDX's Oregon Marketplace will remain open, she said.
The Port of Portland is working on a new vision for retail at PDX, Sontz said. In spite of our efforts to negotiate a renewal of our leases, and renew other options for maintaining a concourse presence, we were unable to reach an agreement.
Powell's has had locations at the airport for more than 25 years. They opened their first one in 1988.
