VANCOUVER A traffic flagger in Clark County was shot with a pellet gun and police are looking for the suspect.

Drivers often slow down in the work zones where Jenni Thomas directs traffic, she said.

So it didn t surprise her when a car slowed down right next to her last Thursday in the 5500 block of Hazel Dell Avenue. But then one of the three men inside the car leaned back and fired a pellet gun at her.

The pellet hit her left hand, causing some bruising and swelling.

She said in her three years on the job, this was the first time anything like this had happened to her.

I m sure they thought it was funny, Thomas said. It was stupid. It wasn t nice, it wasn t funny. It was dumb.

Clark County sheriff s deputies have asked for help finding the suspects. The three men are believed to be in their late teens or early 20s.

They were in a white, 1960s Mercury with a Washington license plate that included the letters AEM. Anyone with information was asked to call the Clark County Sheriff s Office.
