PORTLAND A man was attacked outside the Clinton Street Theater in Southeast Portland Sunday and investigators think the victim was targeted because he is gay.

The attacker yelled a gay slur and then hit and kicked the man several times.

Police said the victim was not badly hurt, but he wasn t able to get a good look at his attacker, either. So there was no suspect description to share with police.

Investigators were asking anyone who was near the Clinton Street Theater around 2 a.m. Sunday to contact them if they have any tips that may help police.

The theater is located at 2522 SE Clinton Street.
