PORTLAND -- A man was fatally struck by a vehicle in Southeast Portland Saturday night and police said the driver left the scene and was not located.
Police were called to the 7000 block of SE Foster Road at about 7 p.m. on a report of a pedestrian hit by a vehicle, according to Sgt. Pete Simpson of the Portland Police Bureau.
Officers learned on the way to the scene that the driver had pulled away and continued eastbound on Foster, Simpson said.
Police and medical personnel found the victim in the street. He was taken by ambulance to a nearby hospital, where he died from injuries related to the crash.
The suspect vehicle was not located.
The vehicle may have been a dark-colored pick-up or SUV and will possibly have front end or hood damage, Simpson. No other suspect information was available.
The victim's identity was not released.
