If you had your health, and the choice - what age would you choose to be for the rest of your life?
According to a Harris interactive poll, age 50 is the perfect age.
The online poll surveyed 2,252 American adults, including men and women of all ages and geographical parts of the country. The poll was balanced for political views, and included adults with children and those without.
They all answered the question: If you could live forever in good health at a particular age. what age would you like to be?
As reported by TODAY, younger people chose younger ages. Those 18 to 36 chose age 38. Gen Xers aged 37 to 48 chose 49. Baby boomers aged 49 to 67 thought 55 was the best. Mature adults aged 68 and older picked 67.
Men, on average, chose younger ages than women, picking 47 as the perfect age while women chose 53.
The results do make sense, according to psychologist Barbara Becker Holstein. You have almost every opportunity, she told TODAY. You're young enough to be famous or start an organic farm and still have the muscle tone to work eight hours a day. You're old enough to have wisdom but young enough that your parents are still alive so you have a generational experience.
I really think 50 is the new 30 to 35, Holstein said in the TODAY interview.
When a similar survey was conducted 10 years ago, the perfect age chosen was 41.
