You’ve probably gotten sick of all the meaningless replays showing off FIFA’s goal-line technology, but the new system was finally put to use Sunday in the France-Honduras game. France striker Karim Benzema hit a left-footed strike off the far post that straddled the goal line — but the ball never crossed the line until bouncing off of Honduran goalkeeper Noel Valladares.

There was not an immediate signal for a goal, and without goal-line technology, France may not have gone up 2-0. Valladares was incredibly close to making the save.

The ruling was an own goal on Valladares. This is the margin between 1-0 and 2-0.
