PORTLAND, Ore. -- The Portland Winterhawks signed center Chase De Leo, the team’s ninth round selection in the 2010 Western Hockey League Bantam Draft Wednesday.

The team said De Leo played this season for the L.A. Selects with 20 goals and 19 assists for 39 points in 35 games, helping lead his team to the national semifinals.

“We’re excited that Chase has chosen the Portland Winterhawks," Portland Winterhawks General Manager and Head Coach Mike Johnston said. "Originally when we drafted him we knew he would have several attractive options to play in the USHL and NCAA.“ "Chase is an outstanding player with high character, and will play a big part in our future.”
